LC men's soccer vs. Lewis & Clark     Send a link to a friend

[SEPT. 16, 2004]  Chris Pettineo blanked Lewis & Clark to lead the Lincoln College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Lincoln Tuesday afternoon. The Lynx (3-4) beat a team in the top 25 in the nation. LC plays at Morton today (Thursday) in their next action.

After a scoreless first half, Adrian Contreras scored a goal off an assist by Miguel Orozco two minutes into the second half, and Pettineo made the goal stand up for the victory.

"Our defensive players were outstanding, and it was by far our best effort of the season," said Lincoln coach Ben Massena. "Orozco was amazing at the sweeper position, and Colin Smith had a great game. Santos Omar Rodriguez dictated play and had six shots on goal as he was outstanding running our offense. This is the first time in four or five years we have been able to beat Lewis & Clark, always one of the top teams in our region."
