MII fire contained     Send a link to a friend

[SEPT. 24, 2004]  At 4:25 p.m. Thursday the Lincoln City Fire Department responded to a report of an explosion and flames at the Myers Industries plant on Fifth Street Road. The city firefighters were joined at the scene by the Lincoln Rural Fire Department, Lincoln Police Department and Logan County Paramedic Association.

The explosion occurred in a dust collector on the roof on the southwest side of the building. Assistant Chief Tom Martin said that between the use of the sprinkler system and firefighters keeping hand-line hoses on the hot spots, the fire was contained to the site of the explosion.

The factory was evacuated and there were no injuries. No damage estimates were available.
