[SEPT. 27, 2004]  SPRINGFIELD -- Lincoln College won one of three matches in volleyball action here Saturday as the Lynx defeated Danville and lost to John A. Logan and Shawnee. The Lynx now stand at 9-8 for the season.

LC beat Danville Area College by scores of 30-26 and 32-30. John A. Logan then defeated Lincoln College by scores of 30-28 and 30-22. Shawnee beat the Lynx 30-17 and 30-23 to complete the Saturday matches.

"We played a solid match against Danville, and we controlled the first game from the start and won a hard-fought second game," said LC coach Mark Tippett. "I was pleased with our effort against John A. Logan because they have a very athletic team. We stepped up our game and played right with them, coming up a bit short. We never really got it together against Shawnee after a long layoff between games.

"Even though we came out of the weekend with just one victory, I feel it was a valuable learning experience for our team. We should feel confident that when we play up to our potential, we can play with the best teams in the region."

Leading the stats for the Lynx on the day were Kristin Majka with 11 kills and eight digs; Kristen Meminger with 13 kills and five points; Erica Lill with 12 kills and five blocks; Danielle Crum with four kills and eight blocks; Sarah Klawitter with eight set assists; and Samantha McCoy with 10 digs and five points.
