Prairieland Christian Church Plans Missions To The Dominican Republic in 2005
WHEN? We are planning to be gone at least 7 days. Our plan at the moment is to leave on Feb. 1, 2005 and return Feb. 8, 2005. This is subject to change, however, based on available flights and costs. For the purpose of finding the cheapest flights we would like to know who is going by October 24. WHERE? We will be working with Alberto Rivas and the Christian Dominican Ministries in the city of Monte Christi. WHAT? There is no shortage of work to be done. We will have a wide variety of opportunities once we are there: VBS, door to door evangelism, church building construction, work on a baseball field, as well as other possible projects. The specifics will depend to a large degree on the specific talents and desires of the group that we take. WHY? the better question is "Why not?" To go somewhere else and serve in a hands-on way is a mutually beneficial experience. The ones whom you are serving are blessed, and you are blessed as well. Service strengthens and stretches our faith. Service forces us to take the attention off of ourselves and look to the needs of others. Serving others changes our perspective on the world and on our faith. HOW? No passport is needed, only an official birth certificate with a raised seal. The total cost per person will likely be around 800-1000 dollars, but we hope with fundraisers that we will only need around 200 dollars per person. No shots are required. If you would like to go, I suggest that you pray about it and let Chad know as soon as possible. Sign the "Prayer Partner" list to commit yourself to regular prayer for the success of this missions trip. 2. Become a sponsor. Perhaps you are in a position where you can personally encourage or financially sponsor someone else to go on the trip. See Chad for details. 3. Participate in our fund raising activities.
