LC softball vs. Lincoln Land          Send a link to a friend

[APRIL 8, 2005]  Lincoln College split a pair of one-run games with Lincoln Land College on Thursday afternoon at Lincoln. Lincoln College won the opener 5-4, and Lincoln Land came back to win the second game 8-7. The split leaves Lincoln College with a 6-14 record going into Saturday's game against Lewis & Clark at 1 p.m. on the Lincoln diamond.

Krystina Gomez was the winning pitcher in the first game, with 10 strikeouts and three walks. Tiffany Tungate and Maleaha Hayward had a pair of hits each to lead the Lady Lynx at the plate. Kelly Nader had the big blow, a three-run triple in the fourth inning. Ashley Shaw had two runs batted in for the Lynx.

In the second game, Lincoln Land pushed across a run in the top of the tenth inning to gain the victory. Lincoln Land took a 7-4 lead into the bottom of the seventh only to have Lincoln College score three times to tie the game and send it to extra innings. Gomez suffered the loss in relief of Nader, who pitched the first four innings.

Sarah Franklin collected four hits for Lincoln College and scored three runs, collecting a home run and two doubles. Tungate collected three hits and an RBI, while Shaw had a pair of RBIs.
