Illinois continues conservation of water and land along Illinois River       Send a link to a friend

[AUG. 17, 2005]  SPRINGFIELD -- On Tuesday, which was Agriculture Day at the Illinois State Fair, Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency announced additional funding for the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program.

An additional 15,000 acres has been funded for enrollment, and this expansion will enhance efforts to improve water quality and increase wildlife habitat along the Illinois River basin.

Illinois currently ranks second in the country in the total number of acres in the program.
