Early morning I-55 crash near Williamsville claims driver's life          Send a link to a friend

[AUG. 19, 2005]  WILLIAMSVILLE -- At about 12:50 this morning (Friday) a green 2000 Dodge Caravan was traveling northbound on Interstate 55, nearing Milepost 104. For unknown reasons the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, down into a ditch and overturned. The vehicle briefly caught fire, which was extinguished by responding Sangamon County sheriff's deputies.

The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sangamon County coroner. The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
