Rt. 54 accident sends two from Mount Pulaski to hospital          Send a link to a friend

[AUG. 23, 2005]  SPRINGFIELD -- A Mount Pulaski man and his passenger were taken to Memorial Medical Center for injuries sustained in a Route 54 crash on Monday.

At approximately 6:45 a.m., Donald Teike, 74, was eastbound on Illinois Route 54, nearing Buffalo Hart. He was driving a white 1995 Oldsmobile Delta 88. Mary A. Teike, 64, was his passenger.

The driver told the investigating trooper that he was tired and this may have contributed to the vehicle leaving the roadway and striking a tree.

As a result of the crash, the driver was confined to his vehicle for a short time before being extricated by Dawson Fire and Rescue. The Teikes were transported to Memorial Medical Center, where they were treated for their injuries.

Sangamon County Sheriff's Department and the Illinois State Police also responded to the accident.
