A new Festival of Trees under way          Send a link to a friend

[DEC. 7, 2005]  Folks at the Odd Fellows Friendship Manor have taken up a lost local tradition, the Festival of Trees. This year's Festival of Trees features 30 sponsored trees and wreaths, a stunning sight to see.

The residents of Friendship Manor helped decorate the trees that did not have decorators.

Administrator Jerry Berglin says, "We are serving a meal every night of the festival where the townspeople can come out and view the trees and have a bit to eat and dine in the midst of the shimmering Christmas glory." Dinner hour is from 4 to 7 p.m. and offers homemade soup, sandwich and a slice of pie.

The tree and decoration auction is set for on Friday evening at 6:30. Proceeds will go to The Salvation Army Keest Center in Lincoln.

"Friendship Manor is the place to be all week," Berglin says. "We are very proud of the festival and are already planning for next year."

Friendship Manor is at 925 Primm Road in Lincoln. The phone number is (217) 732-9647.
