Wednesday afternoon the National Weather Service in Lincoln issued
several snow advisories for Illinois counties as listed below. A
snow advisory means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel
difficulties. Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited
visibilities, and use caution while driving.
A snow advisory is in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday for
the counties of Knox, Stark, Peoria, Marshall, Woodford, Fulton,
Tazewell, Schuyler, Mason, Logan, Cass, Menard, Scott, Morgan and
Sangamon, including the cities of Galesburg, Peoria, Havana,
Lincoln, Jacksonville and Springfield.
Snow was expected to spread into west central Illinois around
daybreak Thursday and then into the Illinois River valley and the
Interstate 55 corridor during the rest of the morning. At the time
of the advisory, it appeared that the heaviest snow would occur
Thursday afternoon. Total snow accumulations ranging from 3 to 5
inches were anticipated by early Thursday evening, with slightly
higher amounts possible from Galesburg to Peoria to Canton.

The National Weather Service in Lincoln also issued
a snow advisory for the counties of McLean, DeWitt, Piatt,
Christian, Macon, Moultrie, Shelby, Effingham, Clay and Richland,
including the cities of Bloomington, Normal, Taylorville, Decatur,
Shelbyville, Effingham and Flora. This advisory is in effect from 10
a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.
Snow was expected to spread into central and part of
southeastern Illinois on Thursday morning. At the time of the
advisory, it appeared that the heaviest snow would occur during the
afternoon. Total snow accumulations ranging from 3 to 5 inches were
anticipated by early Thursday evening.

The National Weather Service in Lincoln also issued a snow
advisory for the counties of Champaign, Vermilion, Douglas, Coles,
Edgar, Cumberland, Clark, Jasper, Crawford and Lawrence, including
the cities of Champaign, Urbana, Danville, Charleston, Mattoon and
Lawrenceville. This advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Thursday.
Snow was expected to spread into eastern and southeastern
Illinois during the late morning and early afternoon hours on
Thursday. At the time of the advisory, it appeared that the heaviest
snow would occur during the late afternoon and early evening. Total
snow accumulations ranging from 3 to 5 inches were anticipated by
late Thursday evening, with slightly higher amounts north of a line
from Champaign to Paris.
