NORMAL -- For the third time in his career at
Illinois State, men's basketball standout
Neil Plank has been
honored as the Prairie Farms Missouri Valley Conference Male
Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

Plank received the honor twice as a junior, and this award for the
period of Nov. 28-Dec. 4 marks his first honor for 2005-06.
A guard-forward for the Redbirds, the senior from Mount Zion
averaged 12 points, 4.5 rebounds and four assists per game while
leading the 'Birds to wins over Grambling State and Wisconsin-Green
Bay. ISU defeated Grambling 62-50 on Nov. 29 and topped
Wisconsin-Green Bay 59-51 on Dec. 3.

Plank, who carries a 3.96 cumulative grade-point average in
finance, currently leads the team in points, averaging 11.7 per
contest, as well as in assists, with 25. In the Tuesday night win
over IPFW [article],
Plank paced the 'Birds with 10 points, seven assists and five
boards.
Plank and the Redbirds host the final game of a five-game
homestand on Saturday, as the 'Birds welcome Georgia Southern to
Redbird Arena for a 7:05 p.m. game.
