[DEC. 10, 2005]  SPRINGFIELD -- On Thursday, snow and ice created hazardous roadway conditions between 10:45 a.m. and 8:45 p.m. During the inclement weather episode, Illinois State Police District 9 responded to 17 crashes and 115 incidents or calls for service.

During inclement weather such as that experienced Thursday, a call for service typically is a request for a vehicle to be pulled from a ditch.

Illinois State Police District 9 reminds motorists to slow down, allow extra time to get to their destination, and allow extra space between themselves and the vehicle in front of them during periods of inclement weather.
