[DEC. 14, 2005]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, at 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Extension to sponsor bingo

The Logan County Extension Unit will sponsor the bingo games that will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at the senior center. Come join the fun and win food prizes.

Alzheimer support group to meet

The Alzheimer support group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday in the senior center's library. No reservation is necessary. The group provides support and information for caregivers and extended family. A coordinator from Maple Ridge Care Centre facilitates the meetings.

Board meeting is open to public

The Oasis board meeting is open to the public and is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Thursday. To schedule any agenda times, the board must receive notification in writing on or before the fifth day of the month prior to a meeting date.

Memories class

The monthly Memories class is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Friday in senior center's library. No reservation is necessary. Participants should bring their own pen and paper to learn skills needed to preserve memories for families and friends.

SHARE food is coming Friday

Self Help and Resource Exchange food orders may be picked up between 4 and 5:30 p.m. Friday. January orders also may be placed then. The Catholic Diocese of Peoria sponsors the program, which is open to everyone, regardless of faith, age or income.

Book club

Come and join our very own book club at the senior center. Rekindle the rewards of reading a book and either sharing your thoughts with the group or just sitting back and listening to others. The scheduled time is Monday, beginning at 1 p.m. Coffee and tea will be provided. Bring a friend and enjoy reading.

December's birthday party

Birthday time! Monday at 1:30 p.m. it's time to celebrate your December birthday with us. There will be games, prizes, entertainment, and cake and ice cream. Bring a friend and come join the fun.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Dec. 20 will feature salmon patties, peas and carrots, rye bread and butter, dessert, and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Ticket deadline is Monday.

Winners announced

Eleanor Barton and Henry Warnisher were weekday pinochle winners. The weekend pinochle winners were Les Van Bibber and Wilbur Wilmert. The five-in-one winners were Bernie DePuy and Linda Hughes.
