We start the new year off by offering you the
opportunity to keep all those healthy New Year's resolutions.
Whether you are looking for health and fitness or an active way to
beat the post-holiday doldrums, the Lincoln Park District has
something for nearly everyone. Memberships are available to purchase
anytime during regular business hours, and there are several levels
to choose from. We feel confident that we have a membership tailored
to your needs, depending on your fitness goals. Feel free to stop
out and let us give you a tour of the facility.

Ballroom dance lessons return to the park district in January. Mike
and Julie Bieser will be our instructors. If you have taken this
class in the past, then you will know that Mike and Julie are not
only great instructors but offer a really fun learning atmosphere.
They will take you from two left feet to dancing the cha-cha, a
nightclub two-step and the ever-popular swing dance. Beginning Jan.
8, we open the ballroom on Sundays from 2 to 3 p.m. for the next
four weeks. Cost is $40 per couple, and participants are encouraged
to wear comfortable clothes and slick-soled shoes. Senior Stride
and Social is in full swing. This is a program that allows senior
citizens to walk indoors. We are happy to announce that Theresa Lee,
a registered nurse, will be here on the first and third Wednesdays
of the month. She is an advocate on senior health issues and will
share information on related topics. The Jan. 4 topic will be
medications, and a free wallet prescription card will be available.
On Jan. 18 she will offer free blood pressure checks. We'll put the
coffeepot on and invite you to join us from 7 to 9 a.m. on these
special days. There will also be a drawing to win some awesome
prizes. This program is free to members and only $1 per visit for
nonmembers.

On Jan. 6, Midwest Technical Institute's massage therapy class will
offer free massages. Sandy Slack, a licensed massage therapist
instructor, will have her students at the park district. This is a
free event, but you must preregister. Available time slots are in
the morning. We urge you to register soon due to the limited number
of available times. Reservations may be made with Christine on
Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 732-8770.
