[JAN. 26, 2004]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center is also open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

St. Clara's Manor to sponsor bingo

St. Clara's will sponsor the bingo games that begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at The Oasis. Come join the fun!

Rules of the Road, Feb. 1

The Rules of the Road course is free of charge to all interested. The course is scheduled for 1 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month. No reservation is needed.

Tax preparation

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program will offer seniors free assistance with taxes. The senior center is offering this service during the 2005 tax-filing season and is expanding the service to include electronic filing. Call 732-6132 to make your appointment.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch on Feb. 1 will feature vegetable soup and crackers, carrot and celery sticks, dessert, and drink for only $3.75. The ticket purchase deadline is noon Monday.

Winners announced

Christine March and Joann Eckert were weekday winners for pinochle. Weekend winners were Helen Cart and Ruth Ackerman.
