[FEB. 4, 2005]  SPRINGFIELD -- The annual State of the State address left state Sen. Larry Bomke, R-Springfield, wanting more details.

"As state leaders, of course we want to stimulate job growth, but there is a difference between wanting change, and presenting a detailed account on how those changes will be made," said Bomke. "The governor did present some interesting ideas and address some old issues, but I think that there was a lack of explanation as to how these programs would be implemented, not to mention funded."

Bomke was pleased to note that Gov. Blagojevich presented a more positive attitude toward businesses in Illinois, but the senator commented that there was still work to be done in rebuilding the state's business community, job market and economy.

"In some ways the governor ignored some important problems facing the state right now," he said. "Illinois leaders are expected to be presented with an estimated $2 billion budget deficit, and businesses continue to move from Illinois to more business-friendly states. I'm glad that he is embracing a kindler, gentler approach toward Illinois industry, but at this stage we need serious action to rebuild Illinois' business community and restore the state's economy."
