"We have been in existence for over a
year, but we are wanting in commitment from the community," writes
acting vice-president Diane Buse. Logan County MADD currently has
four active members and is experiencing difficulty in continuing
services to Logan County.
MADD's State Executive Committee met on Jan. 29 to discuss the
future of the Logan County MADD. It was decided that the chapter has
three months to promote the determination to prevent underage
drinking, stop drunk driving and support victims of this violent
crime. If the chapter is not able to demonstrate community interest
by April 2005, it will be terminated.
The next meeting of the chapter will
be at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 9) at Einstein's, 201 S.
Sangamon. Coffee will be free.
Bring a friend, and thank you for
your assistance in combating drunk driving, Buse says.
