REGISTRATION
All programs have a minimum and maximum enrollment and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The Park District may alter the schedule, cancel, combine or add programs when enrollment warrants.  Registrations are processed in the order received. Registration can be done in person or by mail.

EXPLANATION OF FEES
Lincoln Park District residents, through property taxes, make a financial contribution to the operation of the Park District. Non-residents pay the second fee listed. Program fees are used to offset a part of the costs for instructors, facilities and program supplies.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Because some residents are unable to participate in programs due to economic hardships, the Lincoln Park District provides financial assistance to reduce or waive certain fees and charges. Application forms are available at the Center desk and will be mailed to residents upon request. All applications must be submitted two weeks prior to program registration deadlines. A limited amount of funding is available.   Applicants for assistance are not guaranteed program registrations.

REFUND POLICY
Requests for refunds must be made three-week days prior to the first  class. Application for a refund must be made in person during regular business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday). A $2 service fee is charged for all refunds. If for any reason, a program is cancelled, a total refund is given to each participant registered for the program.

INSURANCE
Individual accident insurance for participants in programs is NOT provided by the Lincoln Park District.

PHOTO DISCLAIMER
Registrants and participants permit the taking of photos and videos of themselves and their children during Park District activities for publication in the program brochure and web site for use, as the Park District deems necessary.

NSF CHECKS
A $15 service fee is charged for checks returned due to insufficient funds.

WINTER PROGRAMS

For Kids and Adults

SIGN LANGUAGE

Linda Schaefer will be our sign language instructor. She received her Masters in Specialized Educational Development from ISU. In her work at LDC with person who have various disabilities, she taught the individuals who lived there and also a number of sign language classes for the staff. She also interprets worship every Sunday for those individuals who use sign language as their primary means of communications.
This course is designed to help people wishing to develop communications with persons using sign language for basic communications needs. The primary participants in the class are caregivers for individuals with special needs including those persons who are deaf, those with significant hearing loss and those wit minimal verbal skills.
While anyone is welcome to join this class, the focus will be on daily conversation needs of persons with limited communications skills rather than advanced
ASL capabilities.
This is a six-week course meeting on Saturdays from January 15 through February 19.

BALLROOM DANCE LESSONS

Mike and Julie Beiser return to the Park District as our instructors. This fun-filled four-week session will include the very popular swing dance, a nightclub two-step, which are steps set to a slower beat, and of course, the Cha-Cha. We will be in the Ballroom on Sunday afternoons starting at 1:30 p.m. Comfortable clothes and slick soled shoes are recommended.

Adults 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Sun. January 9th $40.00 per couple

 

 


WOMEN’S PERSONAL SAFETY

Sorry men, but this class if for “women only.” Ladies, are you concerned about your personal safety when leaving a mall, restaurant, etc. and returning to your car? Have you ever become uneasy around a stranger for no other reason than “he makes me feel uncomfortable?”
Dan Dugan will be your instructor. Mr. Dugan is also known as Sensei Dugan to many here the Park District. Sensei Dugan is a certified 5th degree Black Belt founding the Yoshukai Alliance Karate School. Male and Female students of Sensei Dugan’s school will be assisting in the teaching.
Basic instruction in how to recognize a threatening person, how to minimize your chances of being a victim, and basic self defense will be covered in this course. This two week class will meet on Saturdays beginning Feb. 5th. Participants are encouraged to bring a friend. Those completing the class will receive a gift certificate equaling one month’s instruction in Sensei Dugan’s school of Yoshukai Karate.

TRADITIONAL FILM PHOTOGRAPHY & DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Stephen Klemm, owner of Picture This Photography, is our instructor. Mr. Klemm is the most nationally awarded photographer in Logan County.
This year Mr. Klemm will focus on traditional film or digital cameras. Participants will need to choose which class will most closely meet their needs. Either class is designed for the novice to the intermediate, or anyone interested in the finer art of photography./ Classes will be four weeks from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m..
Traditional film will feature tips and tricks the pros use. Camera operation, i.e. flashes, filters, lenses, et. Composition, color vs. black and white, portraits and silhouettes. The last week will culminate with an in class photography contest, and one on one instruction for optimal results.
The digital camera class will open with what constitutes a great photo from a mediocre one. Following weeks will address choosing your camera and computer printer software. Stephen will also cover making calendars, cards and fun whimsical projects. Week four will finish with the high tech of special effects, email, and slide shows.

JUMPIN’ GYM ‘N’ ME

The focus of this open gym period is for pre-school and home-schooled youth. We will reserve the Kiddie Co-Op room, filled with toys, VCR and a host of interactive materials, along with a court or two for that rowdier “let off some steam” play. Some sports equipment will be provided, but an adult must stay and supervise their young persons activities. The adults monitor play for free while a daily fees is assessed for the youth.

Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. – Noon
Cost: $1.00 per child in district (12 years & under)
$1.50 per child out of district
 


CRAFTS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Are you someone who is between Fourth and Eighth Grades? Are you looking for something fun and creative to do on Saturday mornings? If your answer is yes to this then Lincoln Park District offers a great time for you.
Judy Awe will return as our Craft Director this winter. Mrs. Awe has some super fun ideas for projects. Cards, book marks, and a scrapbook page are just a few of the projects she has mentioned. Even more exciting, the class will vote on the project they want to make the last week! All materials will be provided during the four-week session.
