[JULY 1, 2005]  Lincoln American Legion Post 263 recorded a victory Thursday evening, defeating Gibson City Post 578 11-2 at Pete Andrews Baseball Complex. The win makes Lincoln's record 14-5.

Bobby Maestas recorded his third win against no losses, going eight innings and striking out 13, allowing five hits, two walks and two runs, both earned. His strikeout total beat teammate John Foley's nine-strikeout performance Wednesday against Clinton.

Three Lincoln hitters, Tyson Durst, Cory Pelc and Tim Guy, had two hits each. Five hitters had a double each: Eric Broughton, Foley, Drew Olson, Durst and Chance Berger. Broughton had two RBIs, and Durst, Berger, Pelc, and Guy added one each. Lincoln stranded only four runners for the game.

Gibson City got on the board early with a two-run first inning before Maestas shut them out the rest of the way. Only one Gibson City runner advanced beyond second base the remainder of the game.

Lincoln travels to Gibson City for a doubleheader Saturday and returns to home action Tuesday against Springfield.
