PONY baseball          Send a link to a friend

[JULY 5, 2005]  The PONY baseball diamond was the site of some exciting baseball games over the holiday weekend. As tournament play continues for the 13- and 14-year-olds, Triple T Promotionals & Printing was involved in two of those games.

On Friday evening, TTT matched up against league champion Illini Central. In a seesaw battle, Illini Central prevailed 7-6 to earn the right to play J-Go Racing Engines in a winner's bracket contest.

For TTT, Zach Toft had three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs. Josh Mote had two hits. Matt Graham had a hit and was on base three times. Brandon Chrisman also had a hit and reached base all four times he batted.

For Illini Central, Trent Gardner and C. McCreery each had two hits and two runs scored.

On Saturday, TTT played its best game of the year to date, defeating Treu Body Works 5-0 in loser's bracket competition.

Trevor Moore gave an all-star performance, pitching a seven-inning shutout, while allowing only three hits and striking out 10 batters. Moore put a close game out of reach in the seventh inning with his bat, pounding out a bases-loaded double for three RBIs. Tyson Smith had a single, reached base and scored three times.

But, in the end, it was TTT's defense that scored the victory, as the team played its first error-free game of the season!

For Treu Body Works, John White had a gutsy, complete game performance in defeat, striking out six batters.

TTT will play J-Go Racing Engines at 6 p.m. on Tuesday to determine which Lincoln team will play Illini Central at 8 p.m. in the championship game.
