[JULY 5, 2005]  A weekend of great Fourth of July family activities has gotten an extension to this evening. Fireworks that concluded four days of celebration in Lincoln were postponed due to rain. You can still see them tonight (Tuesday) at dusk out back of the Lincoln Park District Recreation Center.

There was great weather and great attendance for the Lincoln Heritage Days, beginning with street bands downtown both Friday and Saturday evenings.

More than 70 youth participated in the parade on Monday. They brought everything with wheels from bicycles and tricycles to wagons. Roy Logan of the park district said, "The kids were so cute." It was a great weekend, he said. Marsha Greenslate, also of the park district, managed the parade.

Lincoln Mayor Beth Davis, who participated in the fun, is credited with expanded activities for the holiday. She even took the dunks at the dunk tank.

Everyone is looking forward to doing it all again next year.
