[JULY 12, 2005] SPRINGFIELD -- The Illinois State Fair, in a
special partnership with Clear Channel Radio Group KISS-FM in
Springfield and North American Midway Corporation, is offering one
lucky couple the chance to be "Married on the Midway" in front of
100 of their closest friends and family members. The bride and groom
will say their vows in the carnival midway area at the 2005 Illinois
State Fair.
"So many memories are made each year at the Illinois State Fair,"
said Amy Bliefnick, state fair manager. "The Marriage on the Midway
is a unique opportunity for people to build on all of those
wonderful childhood memories and start new memories of the fair
together."
"Our Marriage on the Midway program has been a huge
success to date, whereby hundreds of thousands of votes have been
cast by friends for their favorite couples," says Charlotte Allison,
vice president of marketing and promotions for North American Midway
Entertainment. "We are making dreams come true with this promotion
and creating quite a stir at the same time!"
Entering the contest is easy. Just visit
www.illinoisstatefair.info or
www.997kissfm.com and click on the "Marriage on the
Midway" banner. Each couple must submit a photo and a maximum
150-word essay explaining why they should be chosen. Judges will
select the top 10 essays, which will then be posted on the two
websites, along with the couple’s photo and biographies. The public
can then vote to choose the winner. Selected essays will be picked
based upon creativity, originality and sentimentality.
The winning couple and 100 of their friends will have free access
to all the midway has to offer -- rides, food and fun. All the
needed elements for this special occasion will be provided gratis,
including a justice of the peace, bouquets from
1-800 Flowers, wedding dress from ABS Gowns, a DIRECTV
package, a photographer, a wedding cake, midway food, unlimited
rides and more for the couple and their 100 friends.
The ceremony will take place on Aug. 20 at 10:30 a.m.
