Knapp Library offering summer programs    Send a link to a friend

[JULY 15, 2005]  MIDDLETOWN -- The Knapp Library is offering summer programs in reading and yoga.

Children age 4-12 are encouraged to participate in the summer reading program, which involves games, crafts and other activities related to heroes and superheroes. There is no cost for the program.

Diane Meyrick of Middletown is leading a class in yoga, a unique opportunity these days when all are fitness-conscious. Yoga emphasizes exercises and relaxation to improve posture, breathing and overall fitness -- important to any hero or superhero. The free class on alternate Wednesdays through July is from 2 to 2:40 p.m., followed by healthy snacks. Each participant should bring a large bath towel.

The library has recently received the following gifts and donations:

  • Encyclopedia Britannica, five volumes, from the Gail Davison family
  • National Geographic, 55 volumes, from the Asher family, Hartsburg
  • Photos, from Friends of Ray LaHood
  • Books, from Mary June Boyer, Verneena Boyer and Mark Yarcho
  • "Do Libraries Still Matter?" the Carnegie Report, Vol. 3, No. 2, from Paul Ayars and Saundra Swarts
  • New American flag, from George Boice
  • Mowing, by Bob Golden
