[JULY 20, 2005]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Extension to sponsor bingo

The Logan County Extension Unit will sponsor the bingo games at the senior center on Thursday, beginning at 1 p.m. Come join the fun and win food prizes.

Alzheimer support group to meet

The Alzheimer support group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday in the library at the senior center. No reservation is necessary. The group provides support and information for caregivers and extended family. Meetings are facilitated by a coordinator from Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Board meeting

The Oasis board will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday. To schedule any agenda items, the board must receive written notice by the fifth day of the month prior to a meeting. The meetings are open to the public.

Self Help and Resource Exchange food orders may be picked up Friday between 4 and 5:30 p.m. August orders may be placed at the same time. The Catholic Diocese of Peoria sponsors the program, which is open to everyone regardless of faith, age or income.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for July 19 will feature sausage and sauerkraut, carrots, bread and butter, dessert and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. The deadline is noon July 25.

Mina Bradburn and Linda Hughes were weekday pinochle winners, and Paul Klemm was the winner for Friday and Sunday. Winners at five-in-one were Henry Warnisher and Betty Burger.
