[JULY 27, 2005]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

St. Clara's sponsors bingo

St. Clara's Manor will sponsor the bingo games that begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at The Oasis. Come join the fun and win a prize.

Meeters and Greeters

The Meeters and Greeters group will meet Monday at 2 p.m. This group of volunteers makes monthly visits to people who cannot get out, to add a bright spot in their life. The volunteers always bring a small gift to share during their visit.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Aug. 2 will feature meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, broccoli, bread and butter, dessert, and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Ticket deadline is noon Monday.

Rules of the Road class Aug. 2

The secretary of state's office continues to offer a Rules of the Road course free of charge to all interested parties. The class is scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month from 1 to 2 p.m. The course is designed to help you become a better and safer driver and to assist individuals who may have to take a written exam or the behind-the-wheel test. No reservation necessary.

The Oasis at the Logan County Fair

Join us in the evenings Aug. 2-6 at the Logan County Fair for exciting games of bingo in the Special Events Building from 5 to 9 p.m. All proceeds will be used to help support The Oasis senior center's many programs, services and activities. Come join the fun. Invite all your neighbors and friends. Cash prizes.

Note: The regular Tuesday night bingo at the Lincoln Park District Rec Center on Aug. 2 will be moved to the Special Events Building at the fairgrounds.

Hearing screening

The Oasis will have free hearing checks Aug. 3 between 10 a.m. and noon. Call the senior center at 732-6132 to schedule an appointment.

Winners announced

Helen Cart and Bernie Haley were weekday pinochle winners. Marie Rogers and Marjorie Reiners were the weekend winners for Friday and Saturday. Dorothy Oltmanns won the potluck drawing for Pizza Hut.
