[JUNE 15, 2005]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center is also open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Extension to sponsor bingo

The Logan County Extension Unit will sponsor the bingo games that will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at the senior center. Food prizes! Come join the fun!

Alzheimer's support group to meet

The Alzheimer support group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at The Oasis. No reservation is necessary. The group provides support and information for caregivers and extended family. It is facilitated by a coordinator from Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Board meeting is open to public

The Oasis board meetings are open to the public, and the June 16 meeting is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. To schedule any agenda items for a meeting, the board must receive notification in writing on or before the fifth day of the month prior to the meeting date.

Pharmacist will review prescriptions

Pharmacist Camille Wissmann will be at the senior center from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday to review prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements that seniors may be taking. Appointments are available; please call 732-6132.

June birthday party

Birthday time! Monday at 1:30 p.m. it's time to celebrate your June birthday with us. There will be games, prizes, entertainment, and cake and ice cream. Bring a friend and come join the fun.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for June 21 will feature tuna casserole, tossed salad, jello with fruit, and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Ticket purchase deadline is noon June 16.

Card winners announced

Alice Petro and Christine March were weekday winners for pinochle. Weekend pinochle winners were Marjorie Reiners and Les Van Bibber. The five-in-one winners are Betty Burger and Joann Eckert.
