Broadway Street getting facelift A bid of $113,162.29 was
accepted from Merrill's Contractors, Springfield, for materials and
resurfacing a section of Broadway Street. The section between Logan
and Union streets was planned as part of the downtown repaving work
that was done last year but was delayed due to construction work
being done at Lincoln Junior High.
Jeep migration
A 2001 Jeep Cherokee will be migrating north to Atlanta. The city
of Lincoln sold the vehicle to Atlanta for $6,500, as it was no
longer needed. It was used by the police department.
Truck bids
A bid for a fire department pickup truck was accepted. The Row
Motors bid of $22,097 for a Dodge Ram 2200 was recommended by the
fire and water committee and accepted by the council.
Chair Derrick Crane said that it was not the lowest bid. Graue
Chevrolet had the lowest bid of $19,758.00, but the Row bid met all
the bid specs and was the only one of five bids submitted that
completed the bid spec sheet. The Row bid was also still under the
budget set for the purchase.
Alderman Kathy Horn excused herself from discussions and the
vote. No reason was stated.

Eaton said thank you and that he appreciated all the staff,
aldermen, mayor and past mayors that he has had to work with.
The city contract for the management continues through
Environmental Management Corporation. EMC hired David Kitzmiller to
take Eaton's place.
Kitzmiller is moving his family from East Dundee to Lincoln. They
have purchased a house in Epperson subdivision.
A good summer night out
A request from Jim Loeffler, representing Railsplitter Antique
Auto Club, was granted. The club believes that more space will be
needed for the once-a-month car cruise-in since 80 cars showed up
for the first one in May.
Parking spaces along the north side of Broadway Street have been
added to the Kickapoo Street spaces.
The next cruise-in around the Logan County Courthouse is this
Saturday evening, starting at 5:30.
Church parade
Permission was also granted to Lincoln Christian Church to use
city streets around the church for a parade. The parade is scheduled
for July 9, from 11 a.m. to noon.
Brick walks protected
Several sidewalk requests were turned down in May and June. The
walks were brick, and the city does not replace brick walks unless
they are in poor condition.
