[JUNE 22, 2005]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center is also open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Lunch and bingo

St. Clara's Manor will sponsor a "light lunch," consisting of sandwiches and treats, at noon Thursday at The Oasis. Bingo games will follow at 1 p.m. Bring a friend and come join us for lunch and lots of fun!

Memories class

The monthly Memories class is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Friday in the senior center's library. No reservation is necessary. Participants should bring their own pen and paper to learn skills needed to preserve memories for families and friends.

Self Help and Resource Exchange food orders can be picked up between 4 and 5:30 p.m. Friday. July orders also may be placed at that time. The Catholic Diocese of Peoria sponsors the program, which is open to everyone regardless of faith, age or income.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for June 28 will feature barbecued chicken, three-bean salad, corn muffins and butter, dessert, and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Ticket purchase deadline is noon Monday.

Breakfast bingo

The Christian Village and The Oasis will sponsor breakfast bingo on June 30 at The Oasis. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., breakfast will be served at 9 a.m., and bingo will begin at 10 a.m. You can purchase tickets at The Oasis: $3.50 for breakfast and bingo, 50 cents for bingo only. Wonderful food and a lot of fun and prizes!

Card winners announced

Alice Petro and Mina Bradburn were weekday winners for pinochle. Weekend pinochle winners were Helen Opperman and Marjorie Reiners. The five-in-one winners were Dorothy Oltmanns and Henry Warnisher.
