this Saturday

[JUNE 23, 2005]  Ask almost any aviation enthusiast or many of the area's large business operators, and they will confirm we are quite fortunate to have an airport the size and quality of the Logan County Airport.

A couple of weeks ago the Logan County Board administrative secretary, JoAnne Marlin, stumbled on some information that surprised her. The airport was dedicated on June 25, 1950. What was surprised her, as she did a quick calculation, is that it is coming on 55 years and no one realized the 50th when it was here five years ago. A few calls and a couple of days' planning and a celebration was on the calendar.

This Saturday, June 25, you are invited to join county officials, pilots and others in celebration. A reception will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Heritage In Flight Museum at the airport.

Location:

  • Heritage In Flight hangar
    (by the little yellow building)
    Logan County Airport
    1351 Airport Road
    Lincoln, Ill.
