Elkhart blood drive       Send a link to a friend

[JUNE 29, 2005]  SPRINGFIELD -- Patriotism runs high in the month of July with fireworks and remembrance of those who shed their blood for our freedom. Americans are asked to help their communities and their fellow citizens who are in the hospitals and in need of lifesaving or life-sustaining blood transfusions. Blood donors are always needed and especially during the summer when people are out of town or on vacations. Consequently, area hospitals and the Central Illinois Community Blood Center are asking the public to help replenish local hospital blood supplies by donating blood.

The next drive will be on Friday at the Elkhart Christian Church, 113 S. Gillett St. in Elkhart. The drive will be from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. The public is asked to give blood, and this includes members of all congregations. To make it more convenient, appointments can also be requested.

To make blood donations more enjoyable, donors are asked to bring a friend. Donating together with a friend or relative is a tremendous experience.

The Central Illinois Community Blood Center is a not-for-profit organization that provides to blood to 20 area hospitals.
