[JUNE 29, 2005]  Lincoln American Legion Post 263 defeated the Oglesby Post 237 Illinois Valley Royals 9-3 Tuesday evening at Pete Andrews Baseball Complex. The win makes Lincoln's record 11-5 and drops Oglesby to 7-6.

Lincoln started the scoring in the first inning when Eric Broughton reached first on an error by the shortstop and advanced to second base on John Foley's sacrifice bunt. Drew Olson then hit his second home run of the year deep over the left field fence for a 2-0 lead that Lincoln never lost.

Lincoln scored again in the fourth inning with four runs, the highlight being Paul Phillips' two-run double to left field. In the sixth inning, Cory Pelc hit his first home run of the year with a solo shot to right field. Lincoln closed out the scoring with two runs in the seventh inning when Drew Olson singled to left and took third when the left fielder let the ball get by him. Two outs later, Chase Lowery singled to center field, scoring Olson. Lowery went to second on a passed ball and scored when Paul Phillips singled to left.
