In the first game of the doubleheader, Lincoln scored two in the
first when Tyson Durst doubled home John Foley and Chance Berger.
Lincoln added a single run in the second when Foley drove in Tim Guy
with two out. Clinton countered with three in their half of the
inning to take a 4-3 lead. Lincoln scored in the third when Cory
Pelc singled to right, scoring Alex Dahm with two out to tie the
score. Lincoln did not trail the rest of the contest. In the fifth,
Durst walked and Chris Finley singled to left, putting runners at
first and second. Alex Dahm forced Durst at third base on a busted
sacrifice bunt. With two out, Guy walked, forcing in Finley.
Lincoln took the lead for good with two runs in the sixth. Foley
started the action with a walk. Berger laid down a sacrifice bunt
and ended up beating it out for a hit. Foley took third with some
heads-up base-running, and an out later, Berger stole second base.
Finley then singled to right field, scoring Foley and sending Berger
to third. Dahm grounded out to short, allowing Berger to score the
go-ahead run.
Aaron Altman started on the hill for Lincoln, allowing only one
earned run in four innings of work. Carl Spath came on in relief,
followed by Foley. Spath got the win to make his record 4-1 and
Foley recorded a save. Foley struck out the side in the seventh to
end the game.
Clinton stranded 10 runners in the game, including seven in
scoring position. Each side committed two errors.
Finley had three hits and one RBI for Lincoln. Durst, Dahm and
Pelc each had a hit and one RBI. Foley added a pair of singles and
scored twice.

In the nightcap, John Foley started for Lincoln and ended up
going the distance to make his record 3-1. He struck out nine,
including seven in a row from the second through the fourth innings.
He gave up five hits, two earned runs and walked one.
Lincoln was held scoreless until the sixth inning. With two outs,
Chase Lowery reached base on an error by the shortstop. Kevin
Carroll ran for Lowery. Pelc singled to right field, sending Carroll
to third base. Paul Phillips beat out an infield single, scoring
Carroll to put Lincoln on the board.
The seventh inning, though, provided the excitement. Dahm walked
to start Lincoln's offense. Berger singled to right field, sending
Dahm racing for third. The Clinton right fielder threw the ball high
over third base, and Dahm scampered home while Berger headed to
second base. The backup throw, trying to nail Dahm as he was sliding
across the plate, went wild, ending up in the Lincoln dugout and
scoring Berger to tie the game. Drew Olson then hit his third home
run of the season with a moon shot over the left field wall to put
Lincoln in front 4-3.
Clinton put their seventh-inning leadoff batter on with a single
to center field, and he went to second on a passed ball. A foul
pop-up to Carroll netted the first out. A fly ball to right sent the
runner to third base with two outs. Foley struck out the final
Clinton batter to record his 12th strikeout of the night.
Olson and Berger each had two hits for the game, with Olson and
Phillips getting one RBI each.
Lincoln plays Gibson City Post 578 in a single game at 6 Thursday
evening at the Pete Andrews Baseball Complex. Lincoln then travels
