The 31-5 Lincoln Railers
represented Logan County in the state of Illinois' Elite Eight at
Peoria's Civic Center this past weekend. Sunday, Roy S. Anderson
gymnasium hosted yet another group of local heroes in a community
celebration for the boys and their coaches. |
Lincoln coach Neil
Alexander (back row) looks pleased at what his team accomplished and
thanks athletic director Darrell Hanslow for his support. Hanslow is
retiring in May but went out on the highest of notes! |

Illinois fans were still
buzzing about the Illini's 71-59 victory over the Nevada Wolf Pack
minutes into the Kentucky-Cincinnati game. An NCAA-record crowd of
over 40,000 patrons watched as Illinois advanced to the Sweet 16. |
Faces in the crowd. The
LDN spotted former Lincoln resident Eric Robinson celebrating the Illini victory while watching the undercard match between the Cats
and the Bearcats. Jessica Simpson's husband, Nick, was also on hand
but there were no Ashley Judd sightings... at least by our crew. |
