Dear Citizens of Lincoln, Illinois:

 

I am respectfully asking for your support in the upcoming General election for mayor of the City of Lincoln, IL on Tuesday, April 5, 2005. I am a life-long resident of the City of Lincoln, Logan County, and desire to continue service as your mayor for a second term in order to complete enhancement projects/new  businesses with more jobs for our community already in progress. I love Lincoln, IL and want to see it prosper and improve in becoming a better community to rear our children. I have supported an open-door policy during my first term as your mayor and will continue to do so during my second term if fortunate enough to be re-elected. I promise to do the best of my ability for the betterment of the citizens and businesses in Lincoln, Please note my personal information:

 

  • I am the former Elizabeth Ann Johnson, daughter of the late Grant W. "Bill" Johnson of Atlanta, IL and the late Mildred E. "Millie" Wiggers-Johnson of Beason, IL.

  • I am 46 years old, a life-long resident of Lincoln, and mother of three children - Emilia 24 (currently employed by the IL Senate), Joseph 22 (currently a Corporal with the US Marine Corp. stationed in Kuwait and Iraq), and Alexandrea 19 (currently a freshman at Lincoln College)

  • Graduated from Lincoln Elementary Schools, Lincoln Community High School, and Lincoln College

  • Graduated from the University of IL-Springfield with a BA degree in legal Studies/Minor in Political Studies, and am an American Bar Association approved Legal Assistant

  • hold a Certified Professional Secretary  (CPS) Designation, 1985

  • Retired from the State of IL after 26 years of executive and union public service

  • \Mayor of the City of Lincoln, IL since May 1, 2001

  • President of the Lincoln/Logan County Economic Development Partnership, 2003 to Present

  • President of the Lincoln/Logan County Economic Development Corporation, 2001-2003

  • President of the Lincoln/Logan County Economic Development Foundation, 2001-2003

  • Member of the Governor's Economic Development Sub-committee to Re-open Lincoln Developmental Center (LDC), November, 2004 to Present

  • Member of the Governor's State-wide Task Force to Re-open Lincoln Developmental Center (LDC), January, 2003 - November, 2004

 

  • Established the City's First Ever:

    • Lincoln Police Department Early Response Team with two tazer guns

    • Mayor's Commission on disabilities, Minorities, Seniors, Veterans, and Youth

    • City of Lincoln Beautification Commission

    • City of Lincoln Historic Homes and Building Commission

    • Lincoln City Council's Legislative and Grant Writing Committee - Committee was responsible for obtaining $750,000 in federal grant monies for Lincoln in 2003 and 2004

    • Lincoln Heritage Days to honor our founder and 16th President, Abraham Lincoln

  • Member of Holy Family Church, Lincoln, IL

  • Lifetime Member of the IL Coalition of Citizens With Disabilities, Logan County Chapter

  • Member of the Lincoln, IL Knights of Columbus Auxiliary

  • Logan County Board Member 2 1/2 years Prior to being elected Mayor of Lincoln, IL

  • Served as Lincoln city Council's Recorder 16 1/2 years, June 1982 - Nov. 1998

  • General Chairperson of the Ten-Day 2003 Lincoln Sesquicentennial Celebration, Lincoln., IL

  • President of the Logan County Republic an Women's Club, 1997, 2000, and 2001

  • President and Founder of the "We're Investing Now (WIN)" Investment Club, 1999-2001

  • Past Member of Zonta International, Lincoln, IL Chapter

  • Past Member of Lincoln Junior's club, Lincoln, IL Chapter

  • Served as a Lincoln YMCA Volunteer Soccer Coach for Seven Years

  • Past member of the Carroll Catholic School Club, served as Secretary one year
