Angels
split on opening day of tournament

Lincoln Christian College Angels won their
first match 30-26, 30-10 and 30-22 against Johnson Bible College
before losing to Clearwater Christian College 30-22, 26-30, 25-30
and 24-30 in the National Christian College Athletic Association's
championship being contested in the Laughlin Center at Lincoln
Christian College.

Lincoln will complete its
pool play Friday, when the Angels take on Manhattan Christian
College at 10 a.m. and Crown College at 4 p.m. At the end of the
first day's play, Clearwater Christian College, the defending
national champion, was 2-0, as was Baptist Bible College of
Pennsylvania.
The standings at the end of the first day for Pool A were as
follows: Clearwater Christian College 2-0, Lincoln Christian College
1-1, Crown College 1-1, Manhattan Christian College 1-1 and Johnson
Bible College 0-2. In Pool B the standings were Baptist Bible
College of Pennsylvania 2-0, Southeastern University 1-1, Grace
University 1-1, Providence College 1-1 and Multnomah Bible College
0-2.
Pool play will resume Friday with matches at 10 a.m., noon, 2
p.m. and 6 p.m. At the completion of Friday's play, the No. 1 and
No. 2 teams from each pool will advance to Saturday's semifinal
games at 10:30 a.m. The No. 1 team in Pool A will play the No. 2
team in Pool B, and the No. 2 team in Pool A will play the No. 1
team in Pool B. The winners of those games will meet for the
national championship match at 3:30 p.m.
