Redbirds return to top 25 polls

NORMAL -- Powered by Saturday's 70-28 victory,
Illinois State has returned to the top 25 polls as the Redbirds
enter their off week with hopes of an opportunity to participate in
the NCAA I-AA playoffs.

The 'Birds, who finished the regular season with a 7-4 record,
re-entered The Sports Network poll at No. 24 after the win over
Indiana State. The Redbirds earned a No. 25 ranking in the ESPN/USA
Today coaches poll. With the ranking, it marks the first time
since 2001 that the Redbirds have been ranked for more than one time
in a season. Illinois State will learn its postseason fate on
Sunday, when the final selections and bracket announcement will take
place on ESPNews at approximately noon Central time.
