[NOV. 15, 2005]  NORMAL -- Powered by Saturday's 70-28 victory, Illinois State has returned to the top 25 polls as the Redbirds enter their off week with hopes of an opportunity to participate in the NCAA I-AA playoffs.

The 'Birds, who finished the regular season with a 7-4 record, re-entered The Sports Network poll at No. 24 after the win over Indiana State. The Redbirds earned a No. 25 ranking in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll.

With the ranking, it marks the first time since 2001 that the Redbirds have been ranked for more than one time in a season. Illinois State will learn its postseason fate on Sunday, when the final selections and bracket announcement will take place on ESPNews at approximately noon Central time.
