[NOV. 16, 2005]  NORMAL -- In terms of Division I-AA awards, Illinois State junior wide receiver Laurent Robinson has completed the sweep of weekly awards given to DI-AA players by being named one of two Football Gazette National Offensive Players of the Week on Wednesday. Robinson, who has already received recognition from the Gateway Football Conference, I-AA.org and CollegeSportsReport.com for his performance against Indiana State last Saturday, adds his fourth and final award of the week.

His 14 catches for 292 yards and three touchdowns aided in the Redbirds' 70-28 dismantling of Indiana State in last Saturday's regular-season finale. The 14 receptions added up to the second-best reception total in Division I this season and ranked second-most in a game in Gateway play, two behind the record of 16. In addition, his 292 yards established new single-game records for the school and conference.

Robinson scored on 48- and 18-yard passes from quarterback Luke Drone in the first quarter and added a 49-yard TD on another Drone pass in the fourth period.

The Rockledge, Fla., native led the Redbirds to a 7-4 regular-season mark as he finished the year with 86 catches for 1,465 yards. His 86 receptions also broke the ISU single-season record and tied the Gateway mark previously established by Northern Iowa's Mark Furrey in 1998.

Robinson joins teammate Pierre Rembert, who also took home all four weekly awards, as the only Redbirds to be honored by Football Gazette this season. Rembert won the award after his six-rushing-touchdown performance against Missouri State in Week 10.
