[NOV. 23, 2005]  HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. -- Since its inception in 1924, nothing says "Thanksgiving Day" more than the annual Macy's parade in New York City. Over that 81-year span, float riders, balloon handlers and those in attendance along the parade route have had to endure a myriad of weather conditions.

Here is a list of some of the more extreme weather conditions that have happened on parade day:
  • Snowiest parade: 4.4 inches in 1989
  • Warmest parade: 69 degrees in 1990
  • Wettest parade: 0.97 inches of rain in 1998
  • Coldest parade: 15 degrees in 1930
