Thanksgiving Day accident sends three to Springfield hospital       Send a link to a friend

[NOV. 28, 2005]  Logan County Sheriff's Department, Logan County Paramedics and Logan County Rural Rescue attended the scene of a two-vehicle accident. The accident occurred at the intersection of Old Route 66 and the Interstate 55 exit ramp 133 at 4:34 p.m. on Thursday.

Agnieska A. Swiecinzka, 21, of Niles attempted to turn left (south) from the stop sign on Old Route 66. Her 2004 Dodge Stratus was struck on the driver's front side by Justin Deters, 21, of Lawndale, who was northbound in a 1990 Chevrolet pickup.

Swiecinzka had to be extricated from her vehicle.

Swiecinzka, Deters and Deters' passenger, Emily Deters, 18, of Lawndale, were all taken with non-life-threatening injuries to Memorial Hospital in Springfield.

Citations are pending the completion of the crash investigation.
