[OCT. 5, 2005]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, at 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Maple Ridge to sponsor bingo

Maple Ridge Care Centre will sponsor the bingo games at 1 p.m. Thursday at The Oasis. Lots of fun and prizes! Bring a friend and come join the fun.

Thinker's Box clue

Thinker's Box is a new game challenge at The Oasis. Members and nonmembers can participate. More information can be found in the senior center's newsletter. Winners will receive a gift certificate. Clue: In the answer there is number that comes after six and before eight.

Need help with insurance forms?

The Oasis and the Senior Health Insurance Program sponsor assistance to seniors with their insurance forms. The volunteers are trained by the Department of Insurance to guide you through problems involving Medicare, Medicare supplements, long-term care insurance, retiree health plans, claims processing and appealing denied claims. You can call 732-6132 to schedule an appointment any Thursday afternoon.

Oasis will be closed for holiday

The Oasis Senior Center will be closed Monday for Columbus Day. Activities will resume on Tuesday.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Oct. 11 will feature chicken cacciatore pasta, garlic bread, dessert and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. The ticket deadline is Friday -- earlier than usual, due to the holiday.

Winners announced

Helen Opperman and Alice Petro were weekend pinochle winners for Friday and Sunday night. Helen Cart was the weekday pinochle winner.
