Public auction for Springfield Bonsai Society

[OCT. 18, 2005]  SPRINGFIELD -- The Springfield Bonsai Society will have its annual auction at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Hoagland Center for the Arts, 420 S. Sixth St. in Springfield. Trained bonsai trees in bonsai pots and miscellaneous bonsai materials will be auctioned.

The proceeds from the auction will be used to pay for programs in 2006. All of the society's programs on the ancient art of creating miniature trees in special shallow pots are open to the public.

Members of the society will be on hand to provide information about the art of bonsai. The society welcomes individuals interested in bonsai to attend its monthly meetings. The new schedule begins in March of 2006 and runs through November. The meetings are the second Monday of the month at the Springfield Botanical Garden in Washington Park.
