CIEDC announces employee of the year     Send a link to a friend

[OCT. 25, 2005]  At an annual staff meeting each year, the Central Illinois Economic Development Corporation honors one employee for outstanding contributions. This year, Beth Fleshman of Lincoln was presented the award at the Oct. 21 staff meeting.

Fleshman has worked at CIEDC for almost five years. In that time, she has served the Head Start program as the health and nutrition coordinator. Fleshman took on the additional role of interim deputy director in the summer of 2005 as the organization faced an administrative transition.

Angela Stoltzenburg, executive director, agrees that Fleshman is an important part of the agency. "In my short time at CIEDC, I have seen that Beth is a reliable staff member who has earned the respect of her co-workers," Stoltzenburg said. "We received several nominations for the employee-of-the-year award, but there were several nominations for Beth from many of the counties we serve."

Nominations are reviewed by an objective outside source. This year, staff and administration at the Illinois Community Action Association made the final selection. The Illinois Community Action Association, headquartered in Springfield, is a membership organization that serves as the network for Illinois' not-for-profit corporations and units of government that strive to raise the health, education and economic standards of Illinois' low-income population.

Officials from the association said they were most impressed by Fleshman's ability to handle several responsibilities throughout the transition period and that the nominations came from staff members throughout the CIEDC service area.

CIEDC employs over 160 employees throughout the six-county service area of Piatt, DeWitt, Logan, Menard, Mason and Fulton. CIEDC is a Community Action Agency headquartered at 1800 Fifth St. in Lincoln. The mission of CIEDC is to work toward the reduction and eventual elimination of the causes and effects of poverty.
