[SEPT. 14, 2005]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, at 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Extension to sponsor bingo

The Logan County Extension Unit will sponsor the bingo games at the senior center on Thursday, beginning at 1 p.m. Come join the fun and win food prizes.

Alzheimer support group to meet

The Alzheimer support group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday in the library at The Oasis. No reservation is necessary. The group, facilitated by a coordinator from Maple Ridge Care Centre, provides support and information for caregivers and extended family.

Board meeting open to public

The Oasis board is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. Thursday, and the meeting is open to the public. To schedule any agenda items, the board must receive notification in writing on or before the fifth day of the month prior to a meeting date.

Glaucoma screening

The Oasis is taking appointments for glaucoma screening. Call 732-6132 for an appointment time Friday between 1 and 3 p.m. This free service is available from Dr. Sandra Pelfrey-Jones of Baller Eyecare.

Book club

Come and join the senior center's book club. The scheduled time is 1 p.m. Monday. Coffee and tea will be provided. Bring a friend and enjoy reading.

September birthday party

Birthday time! Monday at 1:30 p.m. it's time to celebrate your September birthday with us. There will be games, prizes, entertainment, and cake and ice cream. Bring a friend and come join the fun.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Sept. 20 will feature tater tot casserole, carrot and celery sticks, roll and butter, dessert, and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Ticket deadline is Monday.

Winners announced

Doris Steffens and Larry Van Bibber were weekend pinochle winners. Henry Warnisher and Mable Hoagland were weekday pinochle winners. Five-in-one winners were Ella Lee Graney and Linda Hughes.
