Each evening includes live string band music and orientation for new
dancers. Five dollars pays the band, callers and for the room. All
ages are welcome. No partner, costume or experience is necessary.
Contra dancing is a traditional American dance form that has
become popular in larger cities and on college campuses across the
country
Spring schedule
April 7
The band for April 7 is Too Old to Be Controlled, from
Bloomington-Normal, with Lisa Ornstein of Chicago being the caller.
"You know 'em, you love 'em." Bloomington-Normal's finest bring
excitement to the stage as special guest star Ornstein leads the
way.
Open jam for musicians of all skill levels will be from 6:45 to 8
p.m.

April 21
The band for April 21 is Kitchen Chair from Ithaca, N.Y., with
caller Nancy Spero, also from New York. Come check out this wonder
band. Fiddler Jennifer Dotson and Gail Blake on guitar blend
melodies from all over the world into a multicultural dance mix that
will get your feet moving.
April 29
Pitch-in potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m., before the dance.
The band is Old Dog New Trick with Jonathan Sivier of Champaign
as caller. Come welcome this new local band to the stage. Drew
Phillips, Peter Fagan, Rebecca Grosser and Rand McCabe will pull out
all the stops to get you groovin'.
