The storms keep coming          Send a link to a friend

Two strong storms have stuck the area so far today and more are anticipated before the day is out.

[APRIL 14, 2006]  Power lines and poles were downed and shingles strewn to the northeast side of Lincoln following last night's midnight storm. A lot of damage occurred along Lincoln Parkway to the north and near the Logan County Airport.

A wind gust struck the area at an estimated 45-50 mph about 12:30 a.m. Friday. Storm spotters to the north saw a trailing cloud form a twister that touched down about 1 1/2 miles northeast of Lincoln, in the area of Kruger elevator.

Animals from a farm where a barn and fence were struck had to be corralled back off the roadway after this event. Also, a house in Lincoln caught fire after it was struck by lightning.

No damage has been reported from this morning's storm, which affected areas mostly to the south of Lincoln.

Potentially severe storm warnings are in effect for the remainder of the day. Rain and storms are predicted for Saturday and Sunday as well.
