Statement from Gov. Blagojevich on passage of 'Let Them Rest in Peace Act'          Send a link to a friend

[APRIL 28, 2006]  SPRINGFIELD -- The governor's office issued the following statement April 25 after the passage of Senate Bill 1144, the "Let Them Rest in Peace Act." Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich said:

"I cannot understand why anyone would disturb a family grieving the death of any loved one, let alone the death of soldiers who deserve our respect for sacrificing their lives for altruistic reasons. A funeral is no place to conduct political protests. The boundaries are clear. All families deserve to grieve soldiers lost in the line of duty. I congratulate and thank Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn for this important legislation and I look forward to signing it."
