[AUG. 3, 2006]  Officials at the Logan County Fair Association have made several changes to the ever-popular demolition derby, scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday.

Shaner McDermith of Grandstand Attractions Inc. has been hired to promote and conduct the finale of this year’s grandstand events. McDermith, a second-generation promoter, has increased the prize money paid to the feature winner from $500 to $1,000.

Another change in the contest is adding compact cars to the derby. Heat winners of the compact division will be included in the feature event. According to the fair officials, entries are still open for both the full-size and compact divisions.

Box seats and preferred lower bleacher seating for this event are on sale at the fair office. General admission tickets will go on sale the day of the derby.

For more information, contact the fair office through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 217-732-3311.
