[AUG. 7, 2006]  A Dunlap woman was taken to the hospital after she ran off Illinois Route 121 on Sunday morning to avoid a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. Kristen E. Hackert, 25, was northbound approximately two miles south of Route 54 at 10:10 a.m., driving a Toyota Camry. Hackert attempted to avoid a southbound vehicle that crossed partially into her lane. She left the roadway. While attempting to regain control of the vehicle, she lost control and rotated clockwise before entering the eastbound ditch and coming to rest facing southbound.

The southbound vehicle did not stop at the scene.

Hackert was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur with non-life-threatening injuries.

Assisting the Illinois State Police were the Logan County Sheriff's Department and Mount Pulaski Fire Department.

The offending vehicle was described as a green Nissan with a male driver. Area agencies were notified and continue to search for it.
