[DEC. 13, 2006]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Oasis potluck and bingo

The monthly potluck at The Oasis will be on Thursday, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The meal will feature ham, salads, special dishes and wonderful desserts. Bring one of your favorite holiday dishes to pass or a $3 donation. Stay for bingo games, starting at 1 p.m., sponsored by the Christian Village. There will also be a lunch drawing sponsored by Pizza Hut and other drawings for special gifts. Come join the fun!

Memories class

The monthly Memories class is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Friday in the senior center's library. No reservation is necessary. Participants should bring their own pen and paper to learn skills needed to preserve memories for families and friends.

SHARE food is coming Friday

The Self Help And Resource Exchange food order may be picked up between 4 and 5:30 p.m. on Friday. January orders also may be placed then. The Catholic Diocese of Peoria sponsors the program. It is open to everyone, regardless of faith, age or income.

Birthday time!

The December birthday party will be on Monday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. There will be games, entertainment, prizes and, of course, cake and ice cream. Come join the fun and bring a guest.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Dec. 19 will feature open-face hot turkey sandwich, peas and a dessert for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Reservation deadline is noon Monday.

Winners for the week announced

Mina Bradburn was the weekday pinochle winner, and the weekend pinochle winner was Harold Goodman.
