[FEB. 15, 2006]  A hazardous weather outlook was issued at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday for portions of central Illinois, east central Illinois and southeast Illinois.

Thunderstorms will be possible tonight as a warm front strengthens across central Illinois. The thunderstorms are expected mainly along and east of Interstate 55. A few storms could produce hail and gusty winds.

There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and early Thursday evening, especially from 3 to 9 p.m. A line of strong to severe thunderstorms will develop by mid-Thursday afternoon ahead of a strong cold front and race east toward Indiana on Thursday evening. Thunderstorms are expected mainly along and east of I-55. Damaging winds will be the primary hazard with these storms, with hail and a tornado possible over east central and southeast Illinois.

River flooding will also be a concern south of I-70 on Thursday and Thursday night due to heavy rains from thunderstorms. The Embarras and Little Wabash rivers will have the highest potential for flooding.

Spotter activation may be needed Thursday afternoon and early Thursday evening.
